Jill has been studying and practicing photography since her college days in Ottawa, Ontario. Algonquin College offered an excellent program in a wonderful city she always thought of as home. She learned her skills through workshops such as Digital Imaging, Post-Production Lab, Commercial and Portrait Studio, History and Theory.
Having established herself now in Victoria BC, there are endless opportunities to photograph people and events around the city. She will often be seen spending hours in front of the computer, editing and playing with images just for the fun of it.
"I consider myself to be a creative photographer, rather than traditional. I like making art pieces out of images and editing software.
I wouldn't say that I'm strictly a natural-light photographer, but I do prefer working both outdoors and indoors with the sun and shadows. That being said, I would still never turn down an opportunity to use the studio. There are endless things you can do with studio lighting that can't be done with just the sun, it always amazes me when I see what I've shot in there, especially when it requires no post-production work whatsoever. I just love the science behind it all."
